Eeeeh, duuuuh. That mysterious phenomenon I was describing above, yeah, it's called "under exposure". If I'd remembered that term at the time I could've skipped the explanation and just referred to Wikipedia. :-)

Thanks for the kind words. You and John have been my 'familiar faces' too.

It's kind of cool to see everyone's take on the Meetup - A little like that movie Rashomon, but without the murder...

I'm glad that I have friends in a new city. It colors (whoops, colours :) ) my whole outlook on my new home.

[...] It’s always fun to bridge that gap between people you know through their postings, and this meetup allowed me to do that a little bit more. Rebecca has a nice follow-up on this, and Jan did the same in as well as posting a review of The Whip itself. I’ll echo his thoughts and say that it was a pretty swanky place, being my first time there. I hear it has changed, and they might see me there again if I’m ever in the area. Yam fries are tasty, and the beer selection is… Well, it’s good, but I just hadn’t heard of nearly all the things they had on tap. Don’t think anyone complained though.
Hi Rebecca and John, it was great to see you guys again. I finally posted my own recap of the meetup too (and I borrowed your picture of Tanya and me).

About that picture: I remember that we talked about whether to use flash or not. If you look at the picture in an image processing program you can see that there are no details left in the couch back between Tanya and me, and in most of Tanya's jacket as well (it's all completely black), and my purple tshirt almost blends in with the black background.

If you want to check a dark image for this type of loss of information, try inverting the picture (negative colors), it's a neat effect.

You omitted the flash to be nice to us, not blind us, you said, but that's OK: I don't mind suffering that little bit for the sake of your art. :-)

Hey! It was awesome to meet you guys, too! :) Definitely looking forward to the next meet-up, now that I know they they are happening regularly again.

Cheers, and happy Friday!

ps: I can't believe I haven't even blogged about the gathering yet (it's been a crazy week for me), but I did Twitter it! LOL...
