Miss604 Poll: Where do you get your coffee?

I have yet to write an entry on Vancouver Coffee about a certain place in Gastown that just makes my morning with their large coffees and breakfast sammiches, but until then I thought I would toss up another Miss604.com poll.

While I wait for John to get ready and escort me down to 7-11 I’d like to actually find out the best, quickest, tastiest place to grab a cup in Vancouver. Yes, I said 7-11, that’s because it’s cheap and the one on the corner by us seriously tastes great. With so many options out there, including $15 cups from Artigiano I just wanted to know.

    I can’t vote because I don’t drink coffee. Though I’ve heard a lot of people say 7-11’s coffee is great.

    I also heard about that $15/cup of coffee, its like what $2600/lbs?

    I’ll stick to my tea!

    Coffee just gives me that kick in the pants in the mornings. I do like tea though, green tea with lunch is the best.

    The only drive-through right now close to me is Timmy’s. So I go there. But before I would alternate between the Starbucks and Tim’s drive-through. Drive-throughs because it’s easier than having to take 2 kids out of their car/booster seats, and into the store to grab one cup of coffee 😉

    Being raised out East, I looovee Second Cup. Sadly there are next to none in Vancouver…we need more.

    There is a lack of decent coffee in this town … or in the country, for that matter.

    But when I’m at home in Vancouver, I spend most of me coffee cash first at Blenz, then Horton’s and Starbuck’s, to fill out the rotation.

    When in the Bay Area frequent do I, there is no question of where I go …
    Peet’s. I especially like going to Peet’s in the Ferry Building in downtown San Francisco, and heading outside to sit on any one of the benches next to the various piers, sipping on the joe, watching the fog roll in and the ships pass by.

    I hear Second Cup is where it’s at – I used to frequent Peet’s in Harvard Square 🙂

    I always hit the Starbucks on Hornby Street between Robson and Smithe. They’re so great there and know me by both name and drink!

    I ‘voted’ for Starbucks because that’s where I usually go if I was too lazy or was running late to use my Tassimo at home which makes a great cup of coffee (actually a Toffee Nut Latte) most mornings.

    I worked for Starbucks for seven years, and they still have damn fine coffee, but I find myself alternating between the Salty Tongue in Gastown and Continental up on the Drive most of the time. Although the Starbucks on Powell has much to recommend it, including a cute little patio and the fact that the drive through window sometimes has more dog walkers than cars.

    Artigiano is in a class by itself, but I hardly ever go by one. Blenz has, bar none, the best location scouts in the business. They were ALWAYS scooping Starbucks on great locations when I was in the trade. The coffee, however…meh.

    And I am so, so tired of reverse snobs nattering on about Timmy’s as if it were A) still Canadian and B) not class snobbery just because it’s reverse class snobbery. I mean, it’s just coffee, y’all!

    But Tim Ho’s is GOOD coffee (as opposed to – not to mention any names, S..rb..ck’s). I have been a coffee drinker almost all my long life (since I was at least 10 years old) I think I know a thing or two about the stuff. S..rb..ck’s is just a nice place to see and be seen.

    I actually got to try the $15 a cup coffee at work today!

    A guy brought in a 1/2lb bag of it as a gift to the office. I thought it was ok, though i’m no coffee freak so was not sure what I was looking for. It’s a nice coffee but WAY to expensive!!!

    Still, it was a nice gesture. 🙂
