Have you Seen this MySpace?
This person on MySpace has assumed the role of “Keira-Anne” in a skewed form of flattery and apparently I am “Bridg” and sometimes “Becky” in photos. I suppose it happens all the time, but ya know I didn’t think it would happen to someone I knew. I always think about this especially with all the content everyday people put on the internet (thanks Facebook!)
He/she (MySpace/kastorey) is receiving messages, comments and I assume replying to them all as someone that he/she is not. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t there some kind of policy on MySpace against this stuff? I do know there’s a license on Flickr about using and redistributing photos without permission. Oh, so many legal violations, so little time.
Hopefully this complete impostor gets caught. Now if you’ll excuse me, Keira-Anne and I are going to walk around Hay Park and look out into Georgia Straights on our way to Helliwell Bluffs to hang out in her Balcony Room.

And maybe after we do that, we can go spend lots of money since I make almost $100,000 a year. Can my sister come too, Bridg?

Send the impostor all your parking tickets Keira and blame all late bill payments on “identity theft” and send your virtual stolen, alter-ego identity love letter e.g. “i love that shirt, i have one just like, ditto with the glasses.”

That’s messed up. But at $100,000, we know who’s buying beers next time.

Link doesn’t work any longer. The site folded already?
October 9th, 2007 at 4:46 pm
Yah, it looks like it…I reported it to MySpace after sending a message to each user that he/she had added as a friend. I’m glad they got on that quickly!
October 9th, 2007 at 4:49 pm
Wow. That is super scary.
October 9th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
How did you find out about this, Keira-Anne?
That *is* scary. Holy smokes!
October 9th, 2007 at 4:56 pm
you know what’s really f-d up, in an sketchy impostor way?
my google reader grabbed the MySpace News edition of this entry BEFORE it grabbed the Miss604 post.
MySpace News sucks as much as weird chicks from Texas who pretend they live in Vancouver.
October 9th, 2007 at 6:02 pm
That is absolutely crazy!!
October 9th, 2007 at 6:58 pm
That is just weird and creepy…..how the heck did you find it?
October 9th, 2007 at 7:40 pm
The first word that came to mind is what John said…creepy. Stalker-creepy. Yeesh. Can you picture this person in a sleazy hotel room, with these photos all over the walls…staring into the mirror, ‘You talkin’ to me? Are you talking to ME???!!’
OK…sorry about that. But, you have verified my complete dislike for MySpace.
October 9th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
Yikes!
Glad to see the site’s folded.
Austin’s a nice place. You would have liked Austin, methinks…but now, not so much.
October 9th, 2007 at 9:55 pm
At least the picture of me and Keira having dinner… in Texas… has me as John. That clever bugger!
October 10th, 2007 at 2:51 am
Wow, that’s really bizarre. How did you discover it?
October 10th, 2007 at 8:10 am
Keira discovered it - I think one of “KA Storey”s contacts found her on Facebook and wanted to be added as a friend.
October 10th, 2007 at 8:46 am
It’s funny because I’ve been corresponding a little bit with a few of the friends that he/she had added, and the vast majority of them said they suspected there was something fishy about that person anyways. I guess it’s not a surprise. What’s even more odd is that this person had two or three friends in MySpace that she supposedly hung out with all the time, and all three of those profiles were ripped down at the exact time that “KA Storey’s” profile was taken down. It was quite the elaborate scheme.

Weird but I guess that is what happens when we post pics online. We have to live with such things.
I will say this for the guy / gal impostor….they do have good taste in who they selected
October 10th, 2007 at 9:36 am
That’s insane… but good on you guys for getting it taken down.
It’s so sad that people feel the need to create lives because they don’t think enough of their own, or they’re trying to get opportunistic with someone else’s images and personal story.
But what’s the appeal? Any attention you get clearly isn’t for you.

so creepy.
some people need to get a life (preferably their own!)
October 10th, 2007 at 11:28 am
I’m trying to wrap my brain around for what specific purpose all that time and effort was supposed to serve …
Good find, and good shutdown.

Ah myspace, the creepiest place on the internet.
Agree with what deb said, some people need to get their own life and stop pretending to be someone else.

Hi Rebecca,
I tried to track-back from my most recent blog post but not sure if it worked. If it did, you can erase this post
Thanks! Sorry, I’m still (in many ways) a luddite and a newbie blogger
