Three more work days until the long weekend and ten more days until I’m in Iowa - FANtastic. Here’s a mid-week update from the good folks at Miss604.com - meaning… me.
Ferry travel should be somewhat less painful than normal this holiday weekend with reduced fares for underweight vehicles on some BC Ferries routes as well as FREE travel for seniors [News1130]
Speaking of Island-folks, Keira and I had some special girl times last night AND it’s also her mom’s birthday today. Happy Birthday Kat!
Sean at BR takes a stab at the Olympic Mascot. I think in my comments thread some form of “bear” was the popular choice however I do enjoy his suggestions:
“…one of the other mascots could be a Lulu Lemon wearing Yaletowner carrying a latte and an umbrella in one hand, and a blackberry in the other hand ignoring the other mascot. Then we could have an Olympic protester dressed in black rags wearing a bandanna over their mouth getting pepper sprayed by cops. And then finally we could have a pine beetle ravaged tree waddling around handing out medals.” [BR]
A while back a reader contacted me about getting his paws on a Johnny Canuck t-shirt. He runs “Hockey night in Melbourne” where they gather for a pub night to view NHL games. The friend who initially made the ones for John and me obliged and we shipped it down under.

Johnny Canuck is now representin’ in Australia, now if only our team would get back on track… If you’re in the area - check out Hockey Night in Melbourne or even Hockey Night in Sydney.
Last but not least, the Vancouver Blogger Meetup for November is this Thursday - check out and sign up on the event listing. Hoping to see all the usual suspects there and maybe a few shiny new faces.

Getting the Yaletowner for the mascot would just put the budget into bigger peril. Those gals don’t come cheap.
