Yeah I’m not a fan of the grey in #1 but I think I still like the overall look the best.

However, I get what Jg is saying about using the current “trendy” colours… case in point: the turquoise skytrain stations or the old Surrey Place Mall design with pinks, oranges and turquoise. That’s so 1995.

To be honest I don’t really like any of them, but if I had to choose one I’m drawn to the concept 2 believe it or not. I do see how first impression it looks like a “snowflake” or “winter games logo” but it is by far the most striking. It looks great on the various applications (banners, vehicles etc). I would like to see it set inside a circle to take away from the “snowflake” feel. Plus I’m not too crazy about the colour combinations it’s kinda dated that whole “lime green pastel look” and it will only add to having to change the logo again 10-15 years down the road.

I was going to go with #3 because I liked the concept behind that one. But I agree with your take, that #1′s logo, visually, is more appealing on a marketing perspective.

I vote for 1 or 3…2 is unfavourable. This is only speaking from an esthetic point of view.
