Wednesday Link Fest: With a Bang

Now that my site is moved over to a new host, which makes me ecstatic by the way, I’m ready to ramp up with posting again. If you’re experiencing any difficulties leaving comments it may just take a bit longer for everything to sync up so please try again in a few hours if possible.

Here’s what’s making headlines in the news and the Vancouver blogosphere today.

Darren asks, when does an homage just become a rip-off, in regards to Citizens Bank’s new RSP video that looks suspiciously like something CommonCraft would make. Sure, they credited and linked one of CC’s YouTube videos on their site, but still.

A Taco Del Mar on West Broadway exploded this morning, taking with it a Starbucks and blowing out the windows of the Holiday Inn across the street. John works nearby and took some photos of the scene.

February 27th is Pink Shirt Day: “The campaign against bullying took root on CKNW’s Christy Clark program, after a male student in Nova Scotia wore a pink shirt to school and was bullied.” [CKNW]

On the Rant Again discusses random acts of kindness and how amazingly awesome they are for both parties.

The Techcouver Map has been revamped by Techvibes, now with Google Map power.

Another hotel in the downtown East side issues eviction notices to make room for a new condo development.

In case you missed it JJ’s got video up of Khabibulin’s cheap shot to the back of the head of Ryan Shannon after he scored in a shootout, winning us the game vs Chicago.

A co-host of mine on The Crazy Canucks Podcast, Alanah, sums up here experience on Vancouver Island for Hockey Day in Canada last Saturday.

They’ve ramped up recording recently on the Lipgloss and Laptops podcast and that’s a very good thing. Check out their Valentine’s Day episode.

   I work nearby the big bang as well (VGH) and I actually ate lunch at the taco del mar for the first time yesterday! I guess I won’t be returning

   Well of course not, Taco Del Mar doesn’t exist there any more I heard on the news this morning that they believe it was deliberately set in the Taco Del Mar with an accelerant in the kitchen.
