A few questions:

What IS it about dooce? Is it a girl thing? I tried to read her blog but dropped it from my reader after a month. Did I miss the interesting posts? Is there any part of her doggies I haven't seen? If anyone would be so kind as to drop a link here in the comments to a post or two that might help change my opinion, feel free.

Did they talk of how many of the supposedly 137,000 blogs a day are splogs, or how many blogs are created and never looked at again even by the author after the first post?

Ignore those who say you have to have a focus for your blog and write for your audience. Your blog isn't your job, it's a reflection of your life. Who has only one interest?

I think this: "one panelist responded: 'don’t hate the player, hate the game'" is what I most hate about people's apathy about capitalism. Like honestly, THAT kind of shitty, pathetic attitude is sure going to make change happen. Fucking morons!

Regarding not knowing what people will find interesting: I might get in trouble for saying this, but that's because you're smart, and you're assuming your audience is equally smart, which they aren't. So they go gah-gah over shampoo but have nothing intelligent to say about something thoughtful. (Of course, I did comment like crazy about shower/face care products on your blog, so maybe I should shut up.) But other than that, I think at times people are either lazy or don't necessarily want to open up in a really personal way online, so they find themselves commenting tons on inconsequential things but not so much for things that require effort (i.e. real thought) or openness. And yeah, you can comment or blog unceasingly and still be nowhere near approaching open. Which I guess is what the Dooce person was saying with her 98% comment and the whole, "No, you have no idea who I am." And of course you know from personal experience how people can read your blog and think they know you. I really want to make a comment here about Immigration but I'll restrain myself. *grin*

I would never have known who the heck Dooce was but one group in my social interaction class looked at bloggers (a whole total of 3, two of whom were Dooce and her husband, which is akin to going for N=1, if you ask me) so now I know. And honestly, and this has nothing to do with her as a person because I wouldn't know her from Eve (or Adam, although I might have an easier time figuring out she wasn't Adam), but just the reaction to her as a celebrity: like I need those screaming people to shut the fuck up. It's like when I randomly encountered an old friend on BART and the guy with him was like, "He made Twitter" and I'm like, "Uh yeah... so? That would require me to be invested in Twitter or invested in celebrity by association, which given I have a decently-sized ego, I'm not."

LiveJournal IS really cool, btw. It has nice features. I like it. And now it's Russian-owned, which makes it seem foreign and exotic. *giggle* Although it's still not as powerful as I want it to be. I still don't really understand what is so great about WordPress. I mean it doesn't seem bad, but there's nothing I've seen about it that wows me.

The wrap party is at Macy's?! Isn't that a little sexist? Do you guys... I mean, "gals" get a special shopping discount while there?

But of course the real question is, how delicious was Lucky Creation?!
