Thanks to my favourite Vancouver History website, I have learned that 43 years ago today, Simon Fraser University admitted its first students on Burnaby Mountain. Here are some more links and info I’d like to share in this morning’s link fest:
I’ve ramped up my E!Online posting in order to gear up for the Vancouver International Film Festival. You can check out a preview post I squeezed in there amidst all the TIFF coverage.
There was a Mr. Fleetwood (Lance Cpl Tom Fleetwood) and his statue has now been unveiled at the Fleetwood Community Centre Plaza in Surrey [SurreyLeader]
Last spring there was talk that Arthur Griffths would be making the jump into politics [read more on my post on Metblogs]. It’s now rumoured to be an official move as of Monday as Griffiths is vying to be on the Vancouver-Burrard ballot for the Liberal party [News1130].
A website has been setup to help find a missing man [CKNW]. It’s actually a wiki page, allowing family and friends to edit as needed and post updates.
For those who are Twitter-addicted, try out Tweetburner. It will shorten your URLs, track which of your tweets get clicked, and tell you what’s “hot” [CNET].
As I noted in April, come September 15th those visiting GM Place for games and concerts will not have the option to go out onto the terrace/balcony and smoke. It is now a completely smoke-free facility [News1130].
If you’re wondering about the Vancouver Election Blog Contest have a listen to my interview with creator, Mark Latham [RadioZoom]. Beyond Robson has been added to the ballot this week as well.
Finally, I thought I would post these photos by Ianiv and Arieanna, taken at the Red Bull Soap Box Race this past weekend.
Two seasons ago I got hooked on the Vancouver-filmed Supernatural and became an instant fan of the Winchester brothers.
The fact that the Blogaholics were able to capture (and interview) Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles wearing Canucks gear… I… I have no words to express how awesome that is.
