I'm never the first to jump on the latest thing, so I'll admit that I was initially reluctant to convert to a Mac. But I had to, for school, and now find it frustrating to use a PC! The only problem is that all my computer-geek friends are still using PCs, so I have to troubleshoot on my own... bad news!

I have been using a Mac now for over three years. I started out with an ibook, which I had until an enterprising thief decided that it would be a great idea to steal it out of my apartment while I was in grad school. ?

I replaced my little ibook friend with a macbook that I use everyday, all day at school. Recently, my macbook got a little sibling in the form of an iphone.

I have had no problems with any of my macs, which has led me to proclaim: “Once you’ve had mac, you never go back!”

We now have two Macs and use them daily for browsing the web and helping us through university. I love how much comes with the Mac and with our busy lives, we have not had the luxury of learning more about some of the programs on our Macs, such as Garage Band, iMovie or iDVD. I use the iPhoto to store all my photos, but I am sure there are many things I still do not use to the fullest, especially the face recognition that is part of the MacBook Pro we have (the computer recognizes people and tags them).
I would love to be chosen for the in home tutorial/tune up! I know it would be an extremely valuable time for both my partner and I, so we can truly take advantage of all of the features of our Macs! I have never had any major issues with our Macs, no viruses and so far things have been great but I always wonder what I am missing, especially looking at all of the colourful icons sitting at the bottom of the screen while I am typing this! Please help me learn what they are and how useful they can be :)

When my youngest son started UBC in 2007, I did some comparison shopping for a laptop for him. I have always loved Mac's but haven't had one in a while as I got an incredible deal on a second hand PC. Anyway, long story short, I ended up buying him a MacBook Pro. He was a bit dubious as he had been using a PC for so long. To ease the transition, I invested in Parallels so he could run Windows XP on it as well as the usual Mac programs. Well, you know the rest. He fell in love with his Mac and basically never uses the Windows side. I like to borrow his MacBook when I can as I love what it can do compared to my budget PC. It is hard to wrestle it out of hands though. I think it needs a spa treatment though before he goes back to school. Hope I win!

We switched to an iMac last September when our PC crashed and died... again. My husband did not want to buy a new computer with Vista and was determined we get a Mac, and I'm happy he was so insistent. We love our Mac -- it's so easy and intuitive. I rave about them to everyone. I'm not very tech-savvy, but I have created photo-montage movies and want to work on some iPhoto books next.

I switched to Mac last December and never looked back. Never really had any experience with Mac before the switch.

What made me switch?

1. My desktop PC was 4 or 5 years old. Since gotten a new DSLR the desktop was having tough times with some photo editing programs. I needed a new computer. Having moved several times in the past few years I hated lugging around my desktop & all its accessories, I knew for my next computer it had to be a laptop.

2. My old desktop used XP. I was not impressed with Vista performance at all so I wasn't about to upgrade. I started looking into OS X and the new MS operating system - Windows 7. Back in Oct/Nov I had the chance to play with Windows 7 at work. After a few days of messing around with it I was not impressed at all.

3. Bunch of my friends made the switch over to Mac and never looked back.

I love my MacBook Pro. I use a Lenovo T61 at work because I have to or else I'd switch to a Mac at work too!
