I waited in line for a very long time to go into the Atlantic House, and it was only after finally entering the doors that I realized that I couldn't get in to see anything because it wasn't wheelchair accessible due to stairs and no elevator. Even the staff that was monitoring the line-ups outside didn't say anything to me when I was waiting to go in.

One would think that in this day and age they would be required to insure that the venue is in a wheelchair accessible location. Alot of progress has been made over the decades with regards to wheelchair access, but there is obviously still a ways to go.

The Olympic organizers should be embarrassed for overlooking something like this. It is completely unacceptable.

Hope you all take the oppertunity to check out the FABULOUS Matt Andersen at the Kitchen Party tonight at the Atlantic Canadian House. New Brunswick may not have sent any athletes to the games, but who needs athletes with musical talent like this! He recently won first place in the single/duo category at the Memphis International Blues Challenge against 80 other performers from around the world. This is a DO NOT MISS performance!!

That's the food you got on the media tour!!! Wow, media rates well... the rest of us don't. The food-tasting at Atlantic Canada House is a joke... don't waste your time... trust me. It's free... so I wasn't expecting a major feast, but it was not worth a two hour wait. To top that off, not all of us got fed because it is very poorly organized, and when I complained to one of the volunteers... you'd think they'd want feedback to improve things... but I was met with sarcasm!! Wow, not what I've come to expect from that much ballyhooed East Coast hospitality. Here's what happened:

I waited in line for over 2 hours for the food tasting and came away having consumed exactly three mussels. There were other things on offer… tarts from what I could tell, but I couldn’t get at them. The event was so poorly organized, people kept walking in with trays of food and a mob of hungry people would push and crowd to get in and the tarts would be gone. Three trays came by and three times I got pushed out of the way and got nothing. When I complained to one of the volunteers, he looked at me as if to say “what is your problem?” And instead of finding out what was wrong, he said “Thanks for coming”…. Thanks for coming? Sarcasm? Are you kidding me? . I guess he forgot he was supposed to be garnering good will towards his region of Canada. This jerk, who someone thought was a good representative to send all the way across the country to represent Atlantic Canada was anything but hospitable. Thanks for coming, yourself…. thanks for nothing…no desire to head to that part of the country any time soon based on that experience!

Atlantic House is a great venue to catch some excellent music. The downside is because it's free and the quality of bands playing you have to be there by 5pm or 6pm. Long haul for some.

Our Atlantic House experience:
We showed up at 13:26 and waited in line to get into the lower area until 14:38. All good at this point as there is beer and expected food inside! Oh wait... All the food from the 14:00 serving is gone, but hey, there is still beer and more food is coming at 17:00! Party on!
Shortly after 17:00 they offered us mussels from a table in the center of the room. We picked up two small bowls and waited for the next three samplers. We waited another 40 minutes but hey, all the food was heading upstairs! WTF? I talked to one of the chef's and he said that we only get mussels in our area. Funny, we were told before coming in, that the food sampler was available in both the upstairs and downstairs at 17:00. Well fail - we couldn't even BUY food! And by the way, the samplers were the size of a teaspoon.
In conclusion, I can't recommend bothering to come here. Utter waste of time. You can drink beer at so many bars with out waiting for an hour in line before 3pm to get in and on top of that, you can order food! WOW, what a concept! Our diabetic friend had to leave here as her blood sugar was low and even asking the waitress for a snack was futile.

Maybe this review will help you make a better choice.
