It's kind of sad that most people don't really get a chance to see the North. I was fortunate in that I had a co-op job up in Whitehorse when I was 20 years old, and spent a summer up there exploring. It's one of the few areas I've been to in the world where you can still get a sense for how things used to be, and how the land once used to be. There are big stretches on the way up to Dawson City that seem like nobody has ever lived there or inhabited it, and it's such a neat feeling.

Hey Rebecca - thanks for posting this! My worlds are colliding (Vancouver and Yellowknife). The north is a really special, wild, "true north strong, and free" and I'm glad lots of people will get a little glimpse of it via Northern House!
