When I was invited to the gallery for a behind the scenes tour a few years ago I discovered that a third of their collection sits in their underground vault since there is such limited exhibition space. Many of these unhung pieces include the work of Canadian artist and writer Emily Carr, who was inspired by the First Nations of the Pacific Northwest Coast. Being able to see more of her work on display at the gallery, for a discounted price this month, makes this “must see” attraction.

The Emily Carr: Deep in Forest exhibition will be open through March, 2014. Follow the Vancouver Art Gallery on Facebook and Twitter for more information.
