2017 marks the 39th anniversary of Pride in Vancouver, the most diverse festivals and parade in the city. There are over 20 Pride events throughout the summer and none draws as many people as the legendary Vancouver Pride Parade, with an expected audience of 650,000 on Sunday!

Vancouver Pride Parade

Where: Downtown Vancouver along Robson, Denman, and Beach Ave
When: Sunday, August 6, 2017 12:00pm to 3:00pm

Crowd Showing Pride Support

The beautiful, diverse, colourful, and extremely fun Pride Parade is a staple of the Vancouver summer calendar, and with 130+ parade entries, there will lots of amazing floats you won’t want to miss.

This year, the Parade Grand Marshals are Carrie Serwetnyk, Fraser Doke (posthumously), and Tru Wilson with the other Wilson family members. All the Grand Marshals have made a significant impact on the LGBTQ2+ community, and we are honoured to acknowledge them.

Be on the lookout for volunteers from Safeway along the route again this year collecting toonies and other donations that will help fund another year of amazing events for the LGBTQ2+ community and beyond.

I am from out-of-town and thank you for the verbal description of where the Pride Parade begins and ends. Having said, what I really need is a map …nothing fancy … North facing arrow, streets and avenues, major landmarks ie. water, bus routes, taxi and car accessibility, and, oh yes, wheelchair options … nothing fancy, just an inclusive map.

We are finding it too complicated to plan how to get in and out with a wheelchair. Maybe next year there could be a wheelchair icon with all this type of preplanning and contact numbers to get on board.

  2. Hi Lee,

I have added a map and here’s a link to accessibility at Pride: http://www.vancouverpride.ca/index.php?id=201365

Here is where I got the map, in the Pride Guide: https://www.queeryme.com/display/viewpdf_digitalPublicationIssue.php?id=580

    I hope that helps!

    Rebecca
