All my hipster/greenie/crunchy/urbane pals were all bound for the luminary, venerable Vancouver Folk Fest this past weekend. I turned down extra tickets, rumoured media passes, friendly [...]

This weekend I’ll be out in Surrey for Fusion Festival but for those who cannot make the Skytrain out to Surrey Central for this (free) three day event filled with dancing, food and concert performances in the park, there’s another event happening down at Jericho Beach Park.
Celebrating three days of world music. Vancouver Folk Music [...]

We spent the early afternoon walking around the site of Surrey’s Canada Day celebrations.
There’s so much to see between the temporary maple leaf tattoos, stilt walking and gold panning, and that’s not even covering the midway or any of the two concert stages. Here’s the day in photos so far, captured by John.
You can [...]

Being a media sponsor of the Canada Day celebrations in Surrey this year means that I have over 12 hours of activities, attractions, concerts, food and all out fanfare to cover. This is a pretty daunting (yet fun) task for Western Canada’s largest Canada Day celebration.
We will have to navigate our way around the Capers [...]

Hopefully this summer will be a bright one as there are so many outdoor events lined up, I’m not even sure I’ll get them all in this post but I’ll [...]

The highlight of our day at the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival was hopping into the media boat with Slye and Dave for some fun times on the water.
We got up close to the action, took a couple spins around False Creek and even learned about some of the boats that were docked near [...]

With 4600 racers and thousands of exhibitors, spectators and cheerleaders in their own right, the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival was a happening place to be this afternoon.
Peruvian BBQ, fish and chips, and beverage vendors were alongside corporate and sponsor booths, games, swag tents and a concert stage. This free event around [...]
