comedyfest vancouverThe Vancouver Comedy Festival is happening September 17 – 27th and will host legendary performers such as Steve Martin, Carol Burnett, Tom Arnold, and David Cross.

A dozen venues including the Media Club, Lafflines, The Cultch, and the Orpheum will host multiple events throughout the course of the ten-day festival. Some of the other 80 performers include Pauly Shore, Last Comic Standing competitors John Heffron and Jon Reep, Flight of the ConchordsArj Barker, and Canada’s king of duct tape, Red Green.

You can also see Oscar Nunez from The Office along with Scott Adsit from 30 Rock at The Cultch for the Cultch Comedy Lab: SF Sketchfest on September 25th. Then on the 26th George Stroumboulopoulos will host Edge of the Fest.

Tickets for some of these shows start at only $15, which is an amazing deal. They also have a 2 for 1 deal to see Tom Arnold and Red Green’s shows when you enter the promo code from the festival’s website.

I’ve only recently experienced Vancouver’s thriving local comedy scene for myself (thanks to Patrick and Art) so I’m sure an event like this will do nothing but good things to boost the community’s profile.

On September 23rd you can check out the aforementioned Art Factora in XM Radio’s Maple Leaf Comic Allstars showcase at the Media Club.

You can follow @VancouverComedy on Twitter for festival news and updates.

Followig the Twestival Local, I went over to the Vogue to see the Weeeeezel himself, Pauly Shore. Not impressed…not all all. Most of his jokes were highly offensive, and by that I mean -> pulled off with little to no witty execution at all. He spent most of the time calling younger women sl**s, or kept talking how often he does groupies. It was not hard to see at all how he easily is stacked on the D-list as an actor/comedian.

I actually felt sorry for him, having to bust his ass doing a lame act across North America just to make a buck. At least he had the grace to poke fun of himself at the fact that he hasn’t had any real role of any sort since Biodome…or Son In Law…or Encino Man.. Poor washed up 41 or 2 year old, bum.

Thank goodness the tickets were given to me for free!

Anyway, I will definitely be looking forward to seeing Strombo host Edge of the Fest, shall be there with bells on!!
