Vancouver 2010 Watch the Opening Ceremony

This is it, one of the biggest days ever in the history of Vancouver is upon us as the 2010 Olympic Winter Games kick off this evening. With the mysterious opening ceremony tonight at BC Place (including performances and the lighting of the torch) everyone wants to make sure they can catch the action.

Here are a few options for catching the opening ceremony:

Television
Live television coverage starts at 4:00pm on CTV and it will also be streamed online on the CTV Olympics site.

Radio
As the official radio station of the Games, News1130 will stream live audio from tonight’s ceremony on air and on their website starting at 6:00pm.

LiveCity
On the big screens at LiveCity Yaletown they’ll be playing the opening ceremony from all Winter Games since Calgary 1988. At 5:30pm they’ll have a pre-show for Vancouver before the main event begins at 6:00pm. The first 1,000 people through the gates will get a pair of red mittens.

Celebration Sites

  • In Surrey they’ll have the opening ceremony on the big screens as well at 6:00pm and then fireworks at 9:00pm.
  • The Richmond O Zone will have live video coverage at 6:00pm and fireworks at 9:00pm.
  • ValleyFest in Lynn Valley will have live video coverage from 6:00pm as well.
  • Whether you’re at home, with friends, or at a public site, I have a feeling the entire Province, nation and maybe a big chunk of the world will have their eyes, hearts, and spirits focused on Vancouver tonight.

I know that Parksville, on Vancouver Island, is holding a Live Site event tonight at its community centre, showing the whole thing on its big screen. Admission free.

We down here south of the border are just disappointed we won’t be able to watch the usual great CBC Olympics coverage this year …

Great information! Thank you! So excellent to be able to see it all together in one place, rather than having to surf all those websites with what’s up at each location.

What is this 2010 van that everyone’s hawking? A mini van? Some sort of weird sponsorship deal?
