Western Canada’s largest annual Celtic Festival returns March 8th to March 16th as CelticFest Vancouver celebrates its 10th anniversary.

CelticFest Vancouver 2014

The 10th Anniversary CelticFest Vancouver features nine days of great music, dance and entertainment, with dozens of free and ticketed concerts, events and activities in downtown Vancouver and the Village on False Creek. Here are just a few of the “do not miss” events and highlights:

What: CelticFest 10th Anniversary Gala
When: Friday, March 14 at 8:00pm (doors @ 7:00pm)
Where: Vogue Theatre, 918 Granville St.
Tickets: Advance Tickets $30 | $35 at door (Northern Tickets only)

What: The Irish Edge Featuring Hermitage Green & Vagabonds
When: Saturday, March 8 @ 9:00pm (doors @ 8:00pm)
Where: The Rickshaw Theatre, 254 East Hastings St.
Tickets: Advance Tickets $25 | $30 at the door | 19 years +

What: CelticFest Ceilidh
When: Saturday, March 15 @ 8:00pm (doors @ 7:00pm)
Where: Vancouver FanClub, 1050 Granville Street
Tickets: Advance Tickets $25 | $30 at the door | 19 years +. This event regularly sells out. Early ticket purchase is recommended.

What: Ceili’s Kitchen Party
Hosted by Tom Landa & Kalissa Hernandez (of The Paperboys)
When: Thursday, March 13 @ 7:00pm (doors @ 6:30 pm)
Where: Ceili’s Modern Irish Pub (Granville), 1006 Granville Street @ Nelson
Tickets: Tickets $15 (at door only)

What: A Whisky Kiss – Scotch-Tasting
When: Wednesday, March 12 @ 7:30 pm (doors @ 7:00pm)
Where: The Cellar, 1006 Granville St. @ Nelson St. (below Doolin’s Irish Pub)
Tickets: Advance Tickets $30 | $35 at the door | 19 years +

What: Something Sort of Grandish
When: Saturday, March 15 @ 2:00pm (doors @ 1:30 pm)
Where: Tom Lee Music Hall, 3rd Floor, 929 Granville Street

CelticFest Village on False Creek

What: Celts on the Creek Festival kick-off event with live music
When: Saturday, March 8 |12 noon – 5:00pm
Where: The Village on False Creek Plaza, Manitoba St. & Athlete’s Way FREE

CelticFest Village and Street Market Downtown

What: Celtic Village & Street Market
When: Saturday, March 15 | 11:00am – 6:00pm
When: Sunday, March 16 | 10:00am – 5:00pm
Where: Granville Street (from Robson to Nelson) and Robson Square FREE

What: Mahony & Sons Music Stage (@ Granville & Robson)
When: Saturday, March 15 | 12 noon to 5:30pm
The outdoor stage is the place to see great live Celtic bands throughout the day, all weekend long.

CelticFest Community Stage @ Robson Square

Premiere Irish and Scottish community dance groups delight all weekend long, and Can Cala entertains with Scottish Gaelic rap, songs and stories.

The first-ever Bodhrán Drum Circle welcomes players of all levels to gather and groove. Listeners welcome too! Saturday, March 15 | 12 noon – 1:00pm. (BYOB: Players can “Bring Your Own Bodhrán”, or purchase one from the Tom Lee Music booth near the stage – limited quantities will be available).

The Penny Whistle Party invites penny whistlers from near and far to join a very special audience-participation orchestra. Beautiful music will be made! Sunday, March 16 | 1:00pm – 2:00pm. (Folks are encouraged to bring their own, but a limited number of penny whistles will be available to purchase from the Tom Lee Music booth near the stage).

Celtic Street Market on Granville

Artisan and craft booths offer everything from woven goods to jewelry and more, plus there’s face-painting, food and more.

Where: Tom Lee Music, City Stage – Lobby Level, 929 Granville St FREE

What: CelticFest Sunday Session with leaders Tim Readman and Jennie Bice
When: Sunday, March 16 | 3:00pm (doors @ 2:30 pm)
Where: Tom Lee Music Hall, 3rd Floor, 929 Granville St.
Tickets: Tickets $5 at the door

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

What: 10th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade
When: Sunday, March 16 | starting @ 11:00am
Where: Parade route begins at Howe St. @ Davie St. and proceeds north on Howe to Georgia Street, ending at Georgia & Granville St.
