Review: Violet Boutique

I was given the heads up about Violet Boutique a little while ago and having recently discovered the goddies that you can find at locally-owned dress shops I was eager to check it out just in case I get something for last night’s event.

Violet Boutique

Proprietor Genevieve Allen travels the world several times a year to gather up exclusive finds to bring back for to her shop, often collecting styles and luxury fashions that you won’t be able to find at any other boutique in town.

I tried on a few dresses and I fell in love with this number from Monoplaza – a Spanish designer. It fit so wonderfully, was flattering to a curvy figure, and felt so smooth… I’m slightly regretting not walking away with it but I’m sure someone else will scoop it up even before I’m done writing this post.

Genevieve offered to take my photo for me but I thought it would be rather fitting to take the standard “selfer” in the fitting room mirror.

I also ran into Beatrice Allen (pictured below), who is actually listed on the Violet Boutique website with a bio: “Beatrice Allen began her love of fashion at an early age, learning an appreciation for Cashmere while nuzzling up for naps in her Mother’s Farliero Sarti scarf collection. Expanding her knowledge to the soft suede and leather of the Fiorentini Baker booties on the floor of her Mother’s closet, she has become a true aficionado, with an appreciation for the finest of fabrics and a penchant for unexpected color combinations; quite an accomplishment for one considered color blind! Drawing from her Mother’s love of Paris, New York, London, Italy and India, Beatrice has become known for her exquisite and eclectic taste! Vive’ Fashionistas!

You can also find garments from designers like Florentini + Baker, Grace Sun, Paul and Joe, and Cotelac.

To be honest I’m not a fashionista by any measure I just know that I loved the styles and have a serious crush on that Monoplaza dress. However I am certain that for many ladies in Vancouver, this shop will probably be the place to find their much sought after wardrobe gems.

Violet Boutique is located at 3012 Granville Street [Google Map] in the fitting South Granville shopping district and you can follow their updates on Twitter @VioletBoutique.
