New Year’s Eve Events in Vancouver: Pubs & Clubs

While the end of 2010 is still over a week away, many are already making plans for how they will ring in the new year. I will have a few event guides available but thought I would start with the big ticket items first. The following events include live music, multi-course meals, champagne, and entertainment for the 19+ crowd.

Donelly Group Pubs
The Academic (Westside), The Calling (English Bay), and Cinema (Granville) have dinner packages incude a three-course meal, champagne, and canapés at 1:00am for $30. Without the three-course meal (but with champagne/canapés), tickets are $15. Doors open at 9:00pm at each location.

Library Square (Downtown)
“Show Me Love” 90’s night with DJ Ana and guests. Library Square sells out every year but you can try to get tickets for the three-course meal, champagne at midnight and canapés at 1:00am for $35 or without the meal (but with champagne/canapés) for $25.00.

Lamplighter (Gastown)
Another sell-out event, tickets for the three-course meal, champagne at midnight and canapés at 1:00am are $40 and without the meal they are $25.

Glowbal Collection

Gala tickets are available for $120 per person and include a surf n’ turf meal (juicy steaks and fresh seafood) along with a glass of champagne at midnight.

Coast (Alberni)
The “Bubbles and Oceans Gala” will offer seafood-centric menus ranging from $55 to $125 per person. The event begins at 7:30pm.

Sanafir (Granville)
Book a five-course meal priced at $95 per person, including champagne upon your arrival. At midnight there will be a balloon drop with gift certificates and restaurant discounts to be won.

Italian Kitchen (Alberni)
A four-course platter menu is available for $95 per person. The evening kicks off at 8:00pm and door prizes will be available throughout the night.

Trattoria Italian Kitchen (Kitsilano)
Platter-sharing with party favours and champagne at midnight. Tickets are $50 per person and the event begins at 9:30pm. Early dinner reservations are also available.

SOCIETY (Yaletown)
The “Pretty in Pink Gala” will have canapés and glasses of champagne at midnight. You can book your reservation for any time after 8:30pm.

Donelly Group Clubs
Republic (Granville)
Hosting a “Metropolis New Year’s Eve” with live music spun by DJ Matty C, dance floor, two levels, and complimentary champagne at midnight. Tickets start at $60, doors open at 9:00pm.

Post Modern (Gastown)
Two dance floors, pinball and video games, and booth with P-Luv and DJ OMG spinning tunes. With complimentary champagne at midnight, tickets start at $40 and doors open at 9:00pm (open until 4:00am).

Bar None (Yaletown)
DJ Jay Swing and Jesse Stiles will provide the soundtrack to New Year’s Eve with complimentary champagne at midnight. Tickets are $40 and the event runs 9:00pm until 2:00am.

OPUS
Presenting “High Roller Style” the OPUS has packages for an all-inclusive New Year’s Eve party including an overnight stay at the hotel starting at $659. One Hundred Days, the pop-up restaurant in the OPUS starts its festivities at 5:00pm with a three-course dinner for $35. You can sign up for dinner plus open bar all evening for $150 (including champagne and a dessert bar) as the space transitions into a dance floor and party zone. Tickets after midnight are $20.

Red Card Sports Bar
On December 31st Red Card will host a Casino Royale style party with live entertainment, canapés and authentic play-for-fun horse races and Black Jack and roulette tables throughout the evening. Prizes and giveaways include a Canucks evening package of two box tickets, dinner at Red Card and an overnight stay at the Moda Hotel. Conveniently located at the Moda Hotel Vancouver, Red Card partygoers are encouraged to stay overnight (with forgivingly late checkouts). The event begins at 9:00pm and rates start at $25 per person.

MARKET by Jean-Georges
MARKET will host two seating for New Year’s Eve Dinner, each with a special prix fixe menu available to choose from. The first seating times are 5:30pm and 6:30pm with a four-course tasting menu available for $75 per person. The second seating times are 8:30pm and 9:30pm with a five-course tasting menu for $95 per person.

The Waldorf
The Waldorf will host a multi-room party much like its highly successful opening event on Halloween. Guests will have access to the entire hotel including the lobby, two dining areas, Tiki bar, two nightclub spaces and hotel rooms. There will also be performances from American composer and philosopher John Maus, acclaimed electronic band TRS-80 from Chicago/LA, and Geneva Jaccuzi, a songwriter, visual and recording artist from Los Angeles. “The History of Dance” will be an all-night party with DJs spinning in two of the rooms and “Five Secret Worlds” with a handful of hotel rooms transformer into mini performance spaces. There are a few tickets left for the event including dinner for $75.

Please enjoy all events and festivities responsibly and plan a safe ride home. SkyTrain will be operating for FREE all night and you can call services such as Operation Red Nose if you’re in a pinch.
